Covid-19 & Festival Safety

We hope that we will not have to require masks and vaccination status for the 2024 event, but we take the health of our authors and festival goers very seriously. We reserve the right to require ticket holders to provide proof of Covid vaccination status or a negative Covid test administered within 72 hours prior to entry into a session if COVID or another virus health issue arises.

The Community Convention Center maintains twenty-four wall-mounted hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility, a limited number of masks for those who have forgotten to carry their personal masks, and hands-free soap and faucet dispensers in all restrooms.

The Community Convention Center Staff has been trained in New Mexico COVID-Safe Practices for individuals and Employers and has certified in the New Mexico Safe Promise. They have a strict cleaning regimen that involves cleaning and disinfecting meeting spaces, common spaces, surfaces, touch points, restroom facilities, convention services equipment, tables and chairs. While extensive safety protocols are in place, they cannot protect you completely from the possibility of being exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while attending the Festival. Therefore, if you choose to attend you must understand that you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

You agree that you will not participate or attend any SFILF-affiliated event if any of the following apply to you:

  • You have tested positive for COVID-19 and not completed the CDC’s guidelines for isolation.

  • You are experiencing symptoms of COVID.

  • Within the past five days, you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID but have not completed the CDC quarantine and isolation guidelines.

Attendees must agree to leave the Festival immediately if they develop COVID-19 symptoms during the event.
